It is nearing the end of the school year, and for some that means graduation day! Whether it is high school or college TOC has the perfect gifts. If you are the graduate, maybe you want to thank that special teacher or professor for inspiring and motivating you.
I always think jewelry is a great gift for graduation, it can serve as a commemorative token that celebrates one of life’s greatest accomplishments. Grads deserve a special something that says congratulations and remind them to keep growing everyday. That is exactly what these pieces from Heather B. Moore are meant to do.
These pieces have have daily inspiring words stamped on the front and back. They are daily reminder to live life to the fullest. They will certainly be cherished by the ones who wear them.
Monica Rich Kosann is contemporary, yet timeless. The sterling silver compass pendant is a perfect symbol to guide your graduate through her journey.
The poesy ring collection is Monica’s new addition to her jewelry line. Each is unique and engraved with a tiny message. We love the “dream” poesy and “carpe diem” rings for graduation gifts!
Inspirational books are always a great gift, but Dr. Seuss is a little overdone. You will love these Compendium books, the messages are very uplifting. We have several different books, each with a different theme. Pick the one that means the most to you!
These are some great ideas, but trust me when I say, there is more where that came from! Stop in soon to see these and many more fabulous gifts. Give your grad something to inspire them, lift them up and encourage them to grow. You may even find something meaningful for yourself, too!
Guess who just got back from a long weekend in Chicago? This girl :) I spent the last five days dining, drinking, sight-seeing and most importantly, shopping! My biggest take-away from this mini vaca was this: You don’t have to go to the big city to shop like you’re in the big city. I was blown away at the number of designers I saw that we carry right here at TOC. Everywhere we went women were dressed in Eileen Fisher, Comfy, NIC + ZOE, and AGL shoes. Usually after a trip like this, I would be bringing home bags and bags of goodies from all the wonderful shopping spots. Not this time. I honestly did not buy one single thing! Why would I when I can get the same looks, or better right at home? Here are some of my fav designers I saw in Chicago that we carry at TOC:
Eileen Fisher has been a staple here at TOC for many years. We love the simplistic designs and chic aesthetics the line always has to offer. The newest pieces to add to your summer wardrobe include this jewel bateau-neck dress, linen crepe short sleeve cardigan, organic cotton flared skirt and bateau-neck shell. Perfect for layering, and dressing up or down.
I wasn’t even looking for Melissa Joy Manning Jewelry, but I turned around at Nordstrom and I noticed a beautiful display of gorgeous jewelry. Turns out it was Melissa Joy Manning! We began carrying this line about a year ago and it is one of my favorites. Manning creates artistic and delicate pieces using sterling silver, 14k gold, druzys, semi-precious stones, and oxidized silver. Her designs are organic, yet sophisticated. We love her two toned cuff bracelets and unique use of stones. If you haven’t yet, you definitely need to check it out next time you’re in!
You’ve heard me gush over AGL shoes before, and I’m going to do it, again. These shoes are seriously hard to beat on quality, design, comfort and versatility. Every pair is handmade in Italy and the materials, colors, leathers and hardware are all made to our specifications. Even though I saw a large display of AGL shoes at Nordstrom in Chicago, not a single pair was exactly identical to one of ours. How cool is that?! Shopping AGL shoes at TOC means that you will have a one-of-a-kind design unique to our store.
We are so excited to be carrying Mephisto shoes. They are a must-have for summer. You have not experienced comfort until you’ve walked a mile in a Mephisto. These shoes are handmade by master shoe makers in Portugal and France and have been around for over 50 years. These shoes are meant to be worn, walked in and loved… a lot. Come in and try them on, you will be hooked!
Speaking of comfort… I am SO glad I wore my favorite Lisette pants on the 5 hour drive to Chicago. Not only did I see tons of Lisette- style pants while I was in Chicago, but I also saw them at many of the great boutiques downtown. This weekend TOC is hosting a Lisette trunk show. This is so exciting because you don’t have to drive the big city to shop the entire collection from Lisette, we are going to have it available for you to try right here in our store starting this Thursday! We would love for you to make an appointment or just stop in. Just for trying on a pair of Lisette pants, you will be entered for a chance to win a credit of $125 toward Lisette merchandise! Call us at (608) 784-2640, we hope to see you there.
I hope you all found something fabulous at our Touch of Clearance sale! And don’t worry if you missed it because our Touch of Clearance loft is here to stay! If that isn’t enough of an excuse to come see us, then you really have to check out all of the new spring merchandise that hit the floor last week. We have been busy shifting, moving, revamping, and making room for tons of great spring looks. Some of our favorites this season have come from the adored brand Lilla P. We cannot say enough about this amazing line! Even if you don’t recognize the name off the top of your head, chances are if you shop at TOC often, you probably already own something from Lilla P. We have been carrying the line for many years, and it all started with the perfect little tee.
When we were in Chicago for the StyleMax show last August, I got the chance to meet Pauline Sokol Nakios, the owner and creative director of Lilla P. As if I didn’t already love the brand, Pauline’s bright spirit, energetic smile and immense knowledge made me even more crazy for the simplicity, functionality and wearability of her clothing. She creates styles that are rooted in comfort for the everyday woman. Lilla P is practical, yet stylish and chic. And this season’s spring collection does not disappoint! What is even more spectacular about Pauline and Lilla P is the story behind the brand. Pauline launched Lilla P in 1998. Since then, Lilla P has grown into a global brand sold at hundreds of retailers all over the world. The best part is she did it all while nourishing a marriage and raising her children. She is an inspiration!
These looks are all a sneak peak at the 2015 spring collection! I am currently obsessed with this 3/4 sleeve textured knit dress! WHY isn’t it already in my closet?! And who said a trench coat had to be long? I am loving this cropped trench.. so fresh! And you will seriously love the microstripe waffle tops, the fabric is insanely soft and comfortable. There is much more where this comes from, too! Now that you know a little more about this fabulous line, stop and and see for yourself. Lilla P is magic!
On the tenth day of Christmas, TOC gave to me… Syna jewelry!
We are so excited to be carrying Syna jewelry! Dharmesh and Namrata Kothari, a talented duo from India, have designed a collection of jewels that will please anyone on your Christmas list. Syna, meaning “together,” is a simple, yet stunning collection of stacking rings, stacking bangle bracelets, “mogul” drop pendants, chakra birthstones, and timeless earrings. The beauty of the simplicity is breathtaking. These pieces are treasures that you will want to wear all the time, not keep hidden away in a drawer. They are beautiful, yet wearable. Syna is finished in a high polished 18 karat gold and features only the best precious and semi-precious stones. I can’t get enough of the champagne diamond earrings featured above! Two of my favorite things.. diamonds and champagne! Seriously though, whats not to love?! Stop in soon to learn more about this exciting new line!
On the fourth day of Christmas, TOC gave to me… Monica Rich Kosann jewelry!
If you are looking for that perfect, happy-tears, super-thoughtful, favorite-gift-of-all-time kind of present, look no further! Monica Rich Kosann has been designing heirloom lockets for years. She began her career as a fine art photographer and soon started designing jewelry to hold her precious photographs. These pieces are meant to be passed down and cherished. They are so special. We can even scan a photograph that you bring in and size it down to fit into the locket. That way it is all ready to go when she opens it up and realizes the true meaning behind such a carefully chosen gift.
We carry lockets in sterling silver, yellow gold and rose gold. There are many styles to choose from and I am sure we can find one perfect for you! These pieces are treasures and you will definitely see why. All etching is done by hand and there is a quality of craftsmanship that you just don’t see very often anymore. These lockets are timeless, simple, and beautiful. She is sure to absolutely love it! Stop down on Thursday during our Jewels of the Night event to learn more about Monica Rich Kosann and check out our selection!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! I had one too many treats… what can I say? I’ve got a sweet tooth, I think its hereditary. Halloween may be over, but the holiday season is now in full force! I can’t wait to eat turkey until I pass out, deck the halls with boughs of.. well… me obviously :) and sing Christmas carols till I’m blue in the face! (Be prepared for many more cheesy holiday references in relation to my name. After all, Christmas is a Holly jolly time of the year!)
Anyway, with all these holidays fast approaching, TOC wanted to make sure everyone was fully aware of our Holiday Open House event next Friday the 7th! Every year Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. hosts a night of local shopping filled with holiday spirit and sparkle! Many businesses downtown La Crosse participate, and TOC wouldn’t miss it for the world! We are so excited to invite all of you to get a sneak peak at the best gifts, decor, and trends for this holiday season. We will have new merchandise to reveal, delicious holiday treats, and fun for the whole family! You can even catch a screening of the movie “Elf” next door at Grounded Specialty Coffee after you have finished making your Christmas wish lists! We will open at our regular time, 10:00 am, but the Holiday Open House will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We really hope you can make it!
Where do I even begin?! We have been SO busy here at TOC. New fall merchandise is coming in daily. Even though we are all sad to see summer go, I have to admit, fall is my favorite season. I felt my first bit of autumn this morning when I stepped outside to a foggy and chilly morning, it was wonderful! Many customers have been asking lately, “what is the big trend for fall this year?” Well… the gals at TOC have agreed, there is not ONE big trend, but MANY trends, and over the next few weeks I would love to highlight our favorites for you.
I have been really inspired by this head-to-toe look popping up on the Chanel runway. We even spotted Rihanna sporting the head-to-toe monochromatic Chanel look!
Although we love these looks.. GET REAL… none of us will be sporting such bold monochromatic outfits any time soon. That is why I want to show you how to get the look and actually wear it. The color palate that I chose for my monochromatic look includes shades of creams, nudes and light browns. On top I’ve layered three of my favorite pieces. The base layer is a Rosemunde lace trim undershirt, it is a silk blend so it feels awesome against my skin and is perfect to wear under a wool or cashmere sweater! The middle layer is an Eileen Fisher u-neck side drape shell. The asymmetrical hem creates an interesting layering piece. The sweater is by 360 and is 100% deliciously luxe cashmere, sooo fabulous!
As you can see, it is all about the layers! And that doesn’t just mean for clothing. The TOC gals agree, layering your jewelry is a must for this fall. We recently discovered these Cheryl Dufault necklaces when we were in Chicago. They feature semi-precious stones, crystals, leather, glass and many other interestingly beautiful objects. Perfect for layering!
I finished the look with a pair of Nic + Zoe ponte pants in mushroom. They are such a great color to blend with all of my layers on top, and would also pair well with everything else in my closet. LOVE! The moccasins are by AGL and are, of course, amazingly comfortable. AGL never fails to blend style and comfort.
There you have it! A practical, wearable and comfortable monochromatic outfit.
Stop in soon to see these and many other great layering pieces for fall! Trust me, the trip down to TOC is so worth it. I am so pleased with the excellent merchandise Kim has brought in this season and you will be, too!
