Summer officially begins on Sunday! That means plenty of opportunities to explore La Crosse. This Harshita poncho paired with a Comfy USA maxi skirt is the perfect outfit for date night. Complete this look with a trendy pair of sandals from Mephisto and a leather crossbody bag from Rebel.
La Crosse really comes to life in the summertime, you can always find something fun to do. For date night with your special someone, we can’t get enough of 4 Sisters, The Waterfront, and Le Chateau. And for dessert, you must go to The Pearl Ice Cream Parlor to try their Cappuccino Oreo and Blue Moon ice cream. DELISH!
Go explore La Crosse, we are so lucky to be a part of such an exciting and dynamic community!
The second annual Artspire festival is coming up this weekend! Downtown La Crosse will be transformed into an exciting celebration of visual, performing and literary arts. In honor of this fabulous community event, TOC has decided to join the fun by featuring one of our favorite jewelry artists, Réve.
The line was started by husband and wife duo Don and Elizabeth Buck in Arizona in 1984. Réve is the French word for “dream,” and these two have certainly formed a dream team. Their intricate details and unique designs are inspired by architecture, classical details, and nature. Each piece is a true work of art.
Elizabeth and Don craft their jewelry completely by hand using sterling silver, 14k and 18k gold, precious and semi-precious stones. They are very passionate and you can tell they love what they do with each unique piece they create.
Our beautiful collection of Réve is the perfect way to get into the Artspire spirit. Stop in to admire the fantastic craftsmanship of these two talented artists. It will really make you appreciate the time and care it takes to create artisan jewelry. Have an Artspired weekend!
TOC is finally ready for summer! We LOVE this mesh overlay dress by Nic+Zoe. We paired it with our favorite Liverpool jean jacket to keep you warm on those cooler summer nights (which seems like every night lately!) Finally, pair the outfit with these simple and comfortable Mephisto sandals and finish off the look with a tubular silk scarf from Harshita.
Stop in and see the TOC crew for more summer wardrobe quick tips!
We hope you had a fabulous holiday weekend. Summer is finally upon us and that means that it is time for some summer vacations! TOC has your travel essentials covered. Comfort is key while traveling but so is style. We think this is a great outfit.
Our first tip about traveling comfortably is to make sure you bring a cozy scarf. Chan Luu’s cashmere silk scarf is perfect for the temperature controlled cabin (also known as the freezing cold airplane) or a makeshift pillow for a quick cat nap. We also recommend layering so if you get warm, you can just take off a layer. We love these cropped palazzo pants by Comfy, together with a Comfy tunic and a light sweater by Repeat. You’ll look great and feel like you are in your pajamas! Another travel tip is to wear your jewelry instead of worrying about packing it. Choose something versatile and comfortable, such as this convertible necklace by Evocutour. It can be worn long or doubled up to make it shorter.
We also suggest a cute pair of comfortable shoes. It makes going through TSA a little less of a hassle. Check out these adorable slip-ons by Corso Como.
Finally, a large tote is a must for a carry-on. I also suggest using a small crossbody to stash your most important items like your passport, ID, and cell phone. Pick one small enough to fit right inside your carry-on tote. Trust me, it makes airport navigating a breeze!
We hope that you travel safe and have a great time on your adventures this summer!
Memorial Weekend always seems to kick off summer, let’s hope the weather gets the memo. We have been working hard rearranging the store and TOC is ready for summer! We are here to help pick an easy breezy outfit for your three day weekend.
Super excited about the new Chambrai summer collection, this Kaylee Jump Dress is the perfect sidekick for your summer wardrobe. This dress will keep you cool by day but the sleeves will keep you warm for those cool summer nights.
Evocateur is JCK Jewelers’ Choice Winner for 2015 and we can see why, contemporary and modern yet is inspired by old world techniques. It really is spectacular!
Nic+Zoe has a great spring line. One of our favorites is this Clever Circle Skirt. Here in the Midwest this weekend is supposed to be in the low 70s, so we paired the skirt with lightweight sweater. The necklace that compliments the earthy vibe is also from Nic+Zoe.
Everybody has those days where they want to wear a comfortable pair of jeans and throw on a sweater. We opted for this pair of jeans by Cambio, a light sweater by Caroline Grace, and completed this look with a scarf from Chan Luu.
Nude shoes are in right now and comfort is the name of the game. New slip-on sneakers arrived just in time for the weekend along with new sandals. No matter your style we have a great pair for you.
So, whether you’re going to a barbecue or catching the latest weekend blockbuster, we always want you to look stylish. Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!
Have you been participating in this year’s downtown walk around? Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. (DMI) has been hosting this event for the past few years to encourage foot traffic downtown. How does it work? You can pick up a special card from participating businesses, that means us! Each business has a unique stamp and you will have until June 5th to collect them all. Our stamp is a cute little bird.
We have really enjoyed this event because it gives everyone the opportunity to get to know the wonderful businesses we have downtown. Community members are always shocked at the number of businesses they’ve never set foot in. We would love it if you would come down, get your first stamp with us, and explore the fabulous downtown La Crosse. We sent Elizabeth to represent TOC and get as many stamps as they could during a typical lunch break… check it out:
The Downtown Walk Around is such a great way to see stores that you would not normally go into. The goal during the lunch hour was try to get to as many businesses we could and still have time to grab a bite to eat. We ended up with stamps from 10 local businesses and bought some new goodies to try, too.
Remember that this is only going on until the first week of June, but getting around downtown in an afternoon is totally doable and you never know what kind of great finds you will discover!
The downtown area is full of fun shops that include chocolates, oils, homemade popcorn, homemade soaps, clothing, and bulk organic body products. There are so many more that we couldn’t have time to go to, but we definitely recommend taking time to take the stamp card and let it guide you around the beautiful downtown area.
The brunch reservation has been made and the corsage has been ordered, but you still need a gift! Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and you are looking for a gift as special as your mom. TOC has just the thing. Don’t procrastinate too long and stop in to see our lovely collection of gifts. Or send your mom in first to fill out a personalized wish list! Here are a few things that will probably be on it:
The TOC team is so excited about this new line of lotions, perfumes and bubble baths. Library of Flowers is handcrafted in small batches and bottled in Colorado. My favorite is the true vanilla, it has hints of bergamot, dark vanilla and amber. The gift sets make a great Mother’s Day treat for your mom, they include soap, body scrub, shower gel, handcreme and lip nectar. Pick a scent she’ll love and get something for yourself, too!
You can never go wrong with jewelry, especially when it is this beautiful. Not only can you give her one of these gorgeous lockets from Monica Rich Kosann, but we can customize it with your pictures. Kosann’s designs are timeless and elegant, yet contemporary and wearable. When your mom opens the locket and sees personal and meaningful pictures inside, there will most likely be tears… the happy kind!
These pillow cases are SO soft! We carried them at Christmas time and they were such a hit, we had to bring in new styles. The nightgowns are new from Faceplant Dreams and they are just as amazing as the pillow cases. Your mom will have such sweet dreams sleeping in one of these “mom” nightgowns and resting her head on a pillow case with a saying just for her. Don’t forget about your four legged friends, either! I am sure they want to get their mommy something special, too.
Finally, nothing says “I love you, mom,” like a gift from PANDORA. Their Mother’s Day collection is absolutely gorgeous. She already has a bracelet? PANDORA’s new collection of shimmering rose jewelry features graphic sterling silver silhouettes of over sized and miniature roses in .925 statement rings, a necklace, and stud earrings. I love their two Mother’s Day gift options, too, which make shopping for mom a breeze! This is PANDORA’s best Mother’s Day yet!
I can’t wait to go home and spend some time with my mom for Mother’s Day. I won’t say what I got her, because she might be reading this, but I know she would love any one of these gifts! I love you, mom!
Until next time, stay sassy and classy!
P.S. Don’t forget to follow us on Bloglovin’! The link is at the top right of this page :)
It is nearing the end of the school year, and for some that means graduation day! Whether it is high school or college TOC has the perfect gifts. If you are the graduate, maybe you want to thank that special teacher or professor for inspiring and motivating you.
I always think jewelry is a great gift for graduation, it can serve as a commemorative token that celebrates one of life’s greatest accomplishments. Grads deserve a special something that says congratulations and remind them to keep growing everyday. That is exactly what these pieces from Heather B. Moore are meant to do.
These pieces have have daily inspiring words stamped on the front and back. They are daily reminder to live life to the fullest. They will certainly be cherished by the ones who wear them.
Monica Rich Kosann is contemporary, yet timeless. The sterling silver compass pendant is a perfect symbol to guide your graduate through her journey.
The poesy ring collection is Monica’s new addition to her jewelry line. Each is unique and engraved with a tiny message. We love the “dream” poesy and “carpe diem” rings for graduation gifts!
Inspirational books are always a great gift, but Dr. Seuss is a little overdone. You will love these Compendium books, the messages are very uplifting. We have several different books, each with a different theme. Pick the one that means the most to you!
These are some great ideas, but trust me when I say, there is more where that came from! Stop in soon to see these and many more fabulous gifts. Give your grad something to inspire them, lift them up and encourage them to grow. You may even find something meaningful for yourself, too!
With the annual Between the Bluffs Beer, Wine and Cheese Festival tomorrow, Elizabeth and I have had beer, wine and… you guessed it, cheese on our minds all week. What better place than Wisconsin to celebrate a trio of my favorite things! To quench our thirst and satisfy our appetites we headed to the perfect place last night after work, The Wine Guyz, for some local cheeses and my favorite wine.
Although I won’t be able to make it to the fest this year, I hope many of you already have your tickets! It is such a great way to support local breweries, wineries and creameries. There will be over 45 local vendors serving up delicious beer, wine and cheese. YUM. After tasting a few things, I am sure you are going to want to bring some goodies home to share with your family and friends (or not). TOC has the perfect serveware and drinkware to present all your new favorite indulgences. I kind of have an obsession with really nice cheese boards and great stemware. It somehow makes the wine and cheese taste that much better! Check out some of our favorites:
These J.K. Adams cutting boards are so fun! They are all beautifully handcrafted and made to last. J.K. Adams believes in their products as “kitchen heirlooms” that should be cherished and passed down. You really cannot go wrong with any of these great pieces.
Did you know Nora Flemming customizable serveware also makes cutting boards?! They are so beautiful. I love the stand alone pieces with the Nora Flemming mini attachments, and the cutting board insert for the round serving platter is so versatile. If you aren’t familiar with Nora Flemming, these serving pieces all have interchangeable “minis.” Each mini has a different theme, so you can customize your serveware for any occasion. Seriously, how did I not think of that first?… genius.
Now that you have a way to present the cheese, you’ll need a way to cut the cheese! :) hehe…. Anyway, these colorful knife sets by Claude Dozorme are a great way to finish off that perfect cheese board. They come in an assortment of colors and include three different styles. Don’t be fooled by their fun appearance, these are some seriously nice knives. They stay sharp and last forever.
Now for the perfect accompaniment to your cheese board, wine! I love all the wine accessories made by Simon Pearce. They are simple, elegant, timeless and durable. The wine coaster is great for presenting any bottle of wine and keeping your table and counter drip-free. The Cavendish red wine glass and Madison decanter are also show stoppers for sure! Simon Pearce glass is just so beautifully crafted, you can literally feel the quality. And talk about heirlooms… these pieces are meant to be handed down.
I hope I didn’t make you too hungry, but seriously, go get some beer, wine and cheese, and support local business. It’s fun and delicious! And on another note, don’t forget we are still hosting the Lisette trunk show and have tons of new merchandise to share with you. Stop in this weekend and say hello :)
Guess who just got back from a long weekend in Chicago? This girl :) I spent the last five days dining, drinking, sight-seeing and most importantly, shopping! My biggest take-away from this mini vaca was this: You don’t have to go to the big city to shop like you’re in the big city. I was blown away at the number of designers I saw that we carry right here at TOC. Everywhere we went women were dressed in Eileen Fisher, Comfy, NIC + ZOE, and AGL shoes. Usually after a trip like this, I would be bringing home bags and bags of goodies from all the wonderful shopping spots. Not this time. I honestly did not buy one single thing! Why would I when I can get the same looks, or better right at home? Here are some of my fav designers I saw in Chicago that we carry at TOC:
Eileen Fisher has been a staple here at TOC for many years. We love the simplistic designs and chic aesthetics the line always has to offer. The newest pieces to add to your summer wardrobe include this jewel bateau-neck dress, linen crepe short sleeve cardigan, organic cotton flared skirt and bateau-neck shell. Perfect for layering, and dressing up or down.
I wasn’t even looking for Melissa Joy Manning Jewelry, but I turned around at Nordstrom and I noticed a beautiful display of gorgeous jewelry. Turns out it was Melissa Joy Manning! We began carrying this line about a year ago and it is one of my favorites. Manning creates artistic and delicate pieces using sterling silver, 14k gold, druzys, semi-precious stones, and oxidized silver. Her designs are organic, yet sophisticated. We love her two toned cuff bracelets and unique use of stones. If you haven’t yet, you definitely need to check it out next time you’re in!
You’ve heard me gush over AGL shoes before, and I’m going to do it, again. These shoes are seriously hard to beat on quality, design, comfort and versatility. Every pair is handmade in Italy and the materials, colors, leathers and hardware are all made to our specifications. Even though I saw a large display of AGL shoes at Nordstrom in Chicago, not a single pair was exactly identical to one of ours. How cool is that?! Shopping AGL shoes at TOC means that you will have a one-of-a-kind design unique to our store.
We are so excited to be carrying Mephisto shoes. They are a must-have for summer. You have not experienced comfort until you’ve walked a mile in a Mephisto. These shoes are handmade by master shoe makers in Portugal and France and have been around for over 50 years. These shoes are meant to be worn, walked in and loved… a lot. Come in and try them on, you will be hooked!
Speaking of comfort… I am SO glad I wore my favorite Lisette pants on the 5 hour drive to Chicago. Not only did I see tons of Lisette- style pants while I was in Chicago, but I also saw them at many of the great boutiques downtown. This weekend TOC is hosting a Lisette trunk show. This is so exciting because you don’t have to drive the big city to shop the entire collection from Lisette, we are going to have it available for you to try right here in our store starting this Thursday! We would love for you to make an appointment or just stop in. Just for trying on a pair of Lisette pants, you will be entered for a chance to win a credit of $125 toward Lisette merchandise! Call us at (608) 784-2640, we hope to see you there.
